A wooden train from 1912, narrow gauge, no air conditioning. Palma to Sóller, twenty-seven kilometres through the Serra de Tramuntana, thirteen tunnels, one viaduct. The carriages still have the original brass and varnish. Departures from Plaça d'Espanya in Palma, several runs a day. Sit on the right going out for the Bunyola plain, swap to the left after the long tunnel for the Sóller valley. The tram from Sóller to the port is the same operator and the same era — most people do both.
