The Torre del Verger sits on a cliff above Banyalbufar at 250 meters. It was built in 1579 to spot Turkish pirate ships — sentries lit grass in a wooden lantern and passed smoke signals to the next tower along the coast. The Balearic government restored it in 1995. Today it is a stop on the Ma-10 road. Park on the small lay-by, walk five minutes to the tower, climb a short stone stair to the top platform. The view runs along the rocky west coast in both directions. Sunset is the busy hour — coaches stop, photographers crowd the platform. Come at dawn or mid-morning instead. The wind is constant up here. There is no cafe, no toilet, no shade. Just the tower and the sea.
