Inca is not a postcard town but a real working town in the interior, third-largest on the island, traditionally the center of leather production. On Thursdays the whole center turns into a market, the biggest weekly market in Mallorca, from eight to half past one. There is more than scarves and soaps for tourists, there is fruit, vegetables, plants, and of course leather, shoes and bags straight from the local factories, often cheaper than in Palma. The second reason to drive to Inca are the cellers, old underground wine cellars converted into restaurants, dark, cool, huge barrels along the walls. That is where you eat the hearty Mallorcan kitchen, arròs brut, frit, shoulder of lamb. A market day plus lunch in a celler is a rounded half day. In November the Dijous Bo takes place here, the biggest fair on the island, when the whole town is packed.
