CCA Andratx is a Kunsthalle in the old sense of the word — no permanent collection, three or four shows a year, mostly experimental, often Balearic. Patricia and Jacob Asbaek, Danish gallerists, opened it in 2001 in Sa Coma above Andratx. The building is 4,000 square metres of low concrete halls set into the Tramuntana foothills, with a bookshop and a restaurant attached. Four resident artists rotate through the studios every few weeks. Over a hundred have come through since the start. Most visitors come for one specific show and stay because the place is quiet. The drive up is worth doing slowly. Closed Sundays and Mondays. An hour for the show, longer if the restaurant is open.
