Sant Sebastia is the patron saint of Palma. A bone from his arm arrived in 1524 during a plague, and the city has marked his day on January 19 ever since. The fiesta runs about two weeks around the date — concerts on the squares, a fire-breathing dragon called Drac de na Coca, the correfoc parade where locals dress as devils and run through the old town setting off fireworks. The big night is January 19. Bonfires go up on every square — Plaça Major, Plaça de Cort, Plaça de la Reina — and people grill sobrasada and longaniza in the smoke until past midnight. Free, loud, and packed. Wear clothes you do not mind smelling of woodsmoke for a week.
