When it rains on Mallorca (around 50 days a year on average) and you have kids in the car, Palma Aquarium is the first answer. It is right on Playa de Palma, minutes from the airport and well connected by bus from Palma.

The place is large. 55 aquaria, over 8000 creatures, focus on the Mediterranean and tropics. Main attraction is Deep Blue, by their own account the deepest shark tank in Europe. Comfortable sitting cushions in front, kids stay here a long time. Next to it the jellyfish tank, several coral tanks, a walk-through tropical outdoor area and a 3D Aquadome with whales.

Especially good for kids: a touchpool with starfish and crabs where supervised handling is allowed, a huge playground with pirate ship in the outdoor area, the Jellyfish restaurant with kids' section. In summer extra programmes: ray-swimming from age 8, shark-diving (diving licence required, so not really for family trips).

Prices vary by reseller and season. As of 2026 adult tickets are around 28.50 to 34 EUR, kids age 3-12 around 18 to 23 EUR, under 3 free. Family pack (2 adults + 2 kids) online from about 91 EUR. Book tickets in advance, on rainy days the on-site queue is massive. Several resellers (Sunbonoo, Tiqets, Musement) sell at small discounts.

Realistic visit duration 2-4 hours. With kids more like 3-4. The place is a mix of aquarium and theme park, so it is not a quiet natural history museum but a loud family experience. Anyone looking for contemplative aquarium vibes is better off in Barcelona, Palma Aquarium is clearly built for families.

Combine: before or after, a walk along Playa de Palma, lunch in Can Pastilla. On sunny days: beach in the morning, aquarium from 2 p.m. when heat and beach crowds peak. That way you get both worlds in a day.

Address: Carrer Manuela de los Herreros i Sora 21, 07610 Palma. By car: plenty of paid parking. By bus: lines 25 or 35 from central Palma, stop Palma Aquarium. From the airport: Aerotib bus plus change, easy.
