Cala Varques is the cove every Mallorca insider mentions when it comes to untouched beaches. No road leads there, no parking lot next to it, no chiringuito. You park on the country road between Porto Cristo and Porto Colom, walk 20 minutes through pine forest and scrubland, and stand before a pebble cove with absurdly clear water. Cliffs on the left, a cave on the right that you can reach swimming or with a snorkel mask (Cova des Coloms, wide enough for daylight to enter). No shade, bring an umbrella or come early. Also works well in the evening, the sunset falls directly over the cove. July/August it gets busy, then the roadside parking becomes the problem. May, June, September are perfect.
